Ingredients

  • For the Patty:

    • 1 lb. lean ground beef (90% lean or higher)

    • 1 small onion, finely chopped

    • 2 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

    • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

    • Salt and pepper to taste

    • Optional: 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herbs (parsley, basil, or cilantro)

  • For the Buns:

    • Whole grain or whole wheat hamburger buns

  • Toppings:

    • Fresh lettuce leaves

    • Sliced tomatoes

    • Sliced red onions

    • Sliced avocado

    • Pickles

    • Light cheese (optional)

    • Your favorite condiments (mustard, ketchup, or Greek yogurt mixed with herbs for a healthy sauce)


Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties:

    • In a large bowl, combine the lean ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and optional fresh herbs.

    • Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

  2. Cook the Patties:

    • Preheat a grill or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Ensure they are cooked through, with no pink remaining inside.

  3. Prepare the Buns:

    • Lightly toast the whole grain or whole wheat buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  4. Assemble the Burgers:

    • Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun.

    • Add the cooked patty on top of the lettuce.

    • Top with sliced tomatoes, red onions, avocado, pickles, and any additional toppings or condiments of your choice.

    • Cover with the top half of the bun.

  5. Serve and Enjoy:
